Camel Piss is an extraordinary wine crafted from a carefully selected blend of single-vineyard grapes sourced from the slopes of the Mount Camel range, a distinguished micro-winery zone nestled within the renowned Heathcote wine region.
Rest assured the name has nothing to do with the taste, though admittedly we have not sampled camel urine.
We called it Camel Piss because there were too many types of grape to fit on the label. The composition features 40% Shiraz, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec and 10% Viognier, creating a harmonious marriage of flavours.
The Shiraz-Cabernet blend is an Australian classic, delivering an intricate balance and depth. The Cabernet Franc introduces a subtle herbaceous note, while the Malbec contributes delightful hints of blackberry and mulberry.
The wine’s enticing bouquet blends fragrant berries and cherries with evocative undertones of cedar, vanilla and chocolate, a result of three years maturing in French oak.
It’s a confident or foolish winemaker who calls their wine Camel Piss. You be the judge.
